Ulsan Metropolitan city is one of the 7 representative cities in Korea that shows 1,057.4km2 of the gross area, population of over million, and 75.6% of independence level of financial status. It is divided into 4 boroughs and 1 county.

Taehwa River flows across Ulsan city and consecutive ports such as Onsan and Bangeon ports. Utilizing these ports, Ulsan has been gate of Korea toward East Asia from the past. Smooth trade distribution is secured in Ulsan with its multidimersionality and systemically developed logistics infrastructure including the harbor, railroad, air transportation, and road.

Ulsan is a representative port city with middle climate, which is a gift of nature. The average annual temperature is around 14.3¡ÆC, while the average temperature during the month of January is around 2.0¡ÆC and that during the month of August is around 26.3¡ÆC. The Ulsan region has 1,135.7mm of rainfall on average each year.

Ulsan, once a small sea village, is developing into the world¡¯s best industrial cluster. All of Korea¡¯s best industries are based in Ulsan. There are the shipbuilding industry(1st), the petrochemical industry(4th), and the automotive industry(5th). Representative companies based in Ulsan include; Hyundai Motor company with the largest single automobile manufacturing facility in the world; Hyundai Heavy Industries & Hyundai MIPO Dockyard build the one out of five larges ships in the world; SK Corp. and S-Oil both petrochemicals mammoths. The IT industry led by Samsung SDI is also growing into a major future industry. In 2006 alone, Ulsan recorded the trade amount of US$104.2 billion with US$54.94 billion in export, which is responsible for 16.88% of Korea¡¯s export. Ulsan, in its true meaning, is Korea¡¯s industrial capital and Asia¡¯s representative industry cluster. Ulsan is still enjoying the compounded 8% annual growth rate, which is almost twice of the nation.

While developing industry, Ulsan seeks sustainable growth without sacrificing the quality if life it provides. Even after 30 years of growing into Korea¡¯s biggest industrial city. Ulsan is still sustaining a clean and natural environment.

Meanwhile, Ulsan is now launching the second take-off to upgrade the existing industries such as auto manufacturing, shipbuilding, oil processing and chemical industry. For that, Ulsan is building up advanced material industry, fine chemical industry, R&D institutes and up-to-date industrial support centers.
Yeosu offers a uniquely convenient location easily accessible from anywhere in Korea. The projected eleven bridges linking the area with the Goheung Peninsula as part of the Southwest Coastal Highway will also emerge as a new tourist attraction.

At the center of Hallyeo and Dadohaehaesang Maritime National Park, Yeosu has preserved beautiful nature with scenic views along a ridged (heavily indented) coastline, stretching over 905.87 km, and a long history with cultural heritages such as Mt. Yeongchui, overlooking scattered islands and inland. Especially, it boasts of the birthplace of Turtle ship (Geobukseon), which is the world¡¯s first ironclad ship and showed excellent performance during the Japanese invasion in Jeoseon Dynasty. In addition, Baekdo Island where it is famous for its unique rocks, Geomundo Island where it is famous for its lighthouse, and Hyangilam Rock where it is famous for the sunrise spot situated in Yeosu City.

The fishery brand products of Yeosu include Haenunri (ear shells, sea mussels, oysters, red sea brine, mackerel, octopus, anchovies, etc are among the seafood that represent Yeosu) and the agricultural brand products includes Dolsangat Kimchi and Odongdo Pure Rice (rice).
